“Only to the extent that we expose ourselves over and over to annihilation can that which is indestructible in us be found.”
—Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart
Nothing is Missing. Nothing is Wrong. explores the universal principle of “Contentment.” Idealized by religion and philosophy, the question of how much is “enough” is widely and somewhat ironically seen as an attribute to be attained. Yet Western cultural norms drive us to be better, fitter, smarter, healthier, richer, and more successful as the pathway to happiness.
Artist Bio
Benji Peck, born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma, is an artist working primarily in oils. His often bold, gestural style accompanies an appreciation for the raw materials themselves.
The grandson of a Pentecostal minister and an Apostolic rice farmer, his deeply religious, Southern upbringing informs many of the themes with which he grapples in his work. His art is an exploration of the interconnectedness between seemingly disparate ideas and the desire to hold two abstractions together as different sides of the same coin.
Benji is the Creative Director at Peck Design Associates™(PDA), a Visual Identity Design Studio in Nashville, TN. He has worked with clients locally, nationally, and abroad for more than 17 years.
